It finally feels like spring here on the farm! It has been a long cold winter, and a rainy spring. We are starting to feel some warmth in the breeze, which means fruit-picking season is just around the corner.

Blossom season has finished, and some small, green pieces of fruit are starting to appear. It is still too early to tell how much fruit will set on the tree, but other than apricots (lost to April frosts), it looks like at least an average-sized crop.

Our first crop for picking will be sweet cherries. We will open for picking as soon as they are ripe, but it is still too early to tell exactly when they will be ripe enough to start picking. At this time, we expect them to begin in early July, but we will not know our exact start date for picking cherries until late June. We will post our exact start date as soon as we know it, so please check back with us in late June.

Sour cherries, peaches, plums, and nectarines all ripen after the cherries. We will continue to update our picking information throughout the season - on our website and our voicemail - so please check back often to get the most up-to-date picking information.

Pricing: we do not know the price for picking yet, as that will depend on both the quantity and quality of the fruit that sets on the trees. We will update pricing once we have a better idea of the wholesale price in Ontario.
